Who we are
My Vegan Meals is a vegan cooking/eating/lifestyle blog created by a team of individuals simply wanting to live healthy, take care of the environment and do what we believe is ethically right.
Why the vegan lifestyle?
We all have our reasons that led us onto the vegan path. Some derive inspiration from their parents that looked for ways to slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease via what they eat, when diagnosed at a very young age. It was through after reading numerous books and articles that it appeared that a well balanced plant based diet may be the key in keeping some of these devastating diseases at bay. Others derive their interest from environmental reasons which are in particular, not well-informed in Japan yet. We believe that being vegan is one of the healthiest ways to live not only for our body but also for the earth.
What we are blogging about
We blog everything vegan! Whether it be lifestyle, recipes or new restaurants we stumble upon. This blog is maintained by a team in Canada as well as in Japan so you may see contents from both.
Most of our vegan recipes are Japanese inspired, not only because we are both of Japanese descent, but because we wanted to preserve the nutritional benefits that come from ingredients and cooking styles of the Japanese diet.
You may also notice that most of our recipes are sugar free as well as gluten free. The reason for this is that sugar, we feel is the worst ingredient in the modern diet. It simply leads to many health issues. Gluten on the other hand is often debated as being both healthy and unhealthy. We personally found that by cutting out gluten from our diet, we have more energy during the day.
Our recipes have been tested by many around us who are vegan, vegetarian and those who simply enjoy good food. As a result, we are confident that we provide some of the best vegan recipes around. Vegan or not, please try some of our recipes as non-vegans have said that they are the best vegan recipes for meat lovers!
Our dream is to create a global community with other vegan food bloggers and health conscious individuals, connecting and sharing ideas to support each others’ healthy lifestyles. If you find any of the recipes useful, we would love it if you could share it with others.
