Vegan, Gluten Free- The ultimate miso sauce! The most versatile gravy recipe

Miso is a fermented soybean paste, and has many nutrition and health benefits including a high antioxidant content.

We have perfected this miso gravy recipe to be the most versatile gravy. It’s rich texture and ever so satisfying flavour is absolutely delicious on vegetables, as a dip, on top of grains, in burgers, in sandwiches, it can be enjoyed with any type of dish even as a miso gravy poutine!

Ingredients:

  • 3c vegetable broth
  • 1c water
  • 2 tbsp tamari soy sauce (gluten free)
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4c coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 large cloves of garlic crushed
  • 2 tbsp brown rice syrup (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tbsp shredded ginger
  • 1/2 c brown rice flour
  • 1/2 c nutritional yeast
  •  5 tbsp brown rice miso paste (gluten free)

Directions:

  1. Bring all above ingredients except for miso to a boil, simmer for 2-3 min.
  2. Stop heat and add the glutenfree miso. (Add miso at the end to preserve its beneficial bacteria)
  3. Use hand blender to make smooth.
  4. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or grains, steamed vegetables, use as a dip, anything!!                 Serve miso gravy over mashed potatoes  Serve miso gravy over rice or grains Serve miso gravy over homemade poutine
